5 Months on LDN

One purpose of my blog is to share with other people who suffer with Multiple Sclerosis. If you have read my blogs, then you know that I quit taking Bataseron 5 months ago and started taking Low Dose Naltrexone. I write in more detail on some of the physical benefits I have been receiving. The last week or so I have had a horrible rash on my legs. I have had this before and am not sure if it is a sympton of MS or of my whacked out thyroid. I will have to look into it if it doesn't stop. For the moment benedryl seems to help. But as for other things I generally feel great. Sometimes I wonder if my eye site is not doing well, but it is hard to figure out if it is because of MS or just AGE "-) I know...I have to get that checked out too. I still have not told my neurologist that I quit her drug treatments. But all in all I feel great. I am mentally and physically happy. So I really believe LDN is the best thing I could be doing for my self. I still believe I will never go back to the interferon's. I was amazed to see a post on the LDN site that said:

FDA-approved naltrexone, in a low dose, can boost the

immune system — helping those with HIV/AIDS, cancer,

autoimmune diseases, and central nervous system disorders.

First Study of LDN Published in US Medical Journal

Dr. Jill Smith’s original article, "Low-Dose Naltrexone Therapy Improves Active Crohn’s Disease," in the January issue of the American Journal of Gastroenterology (2007;102:1–9), officially presents LDN to the world of scientific medicine. Smith, Professor of Gastroenterology at Pennsylvania State University's College of Medicine, found that two-thirds of the patients in her pilot study went into remission and fully 89% of the group responded to treatment to some degree. She concluded that “LDN therapy appears effective and safe in subjects with active Crohn’s disease.” (For further information on Smith's study, please see the linked Clinical Trials page.)

This was so exciting to me. If you are interested on other information please click HERE and you will be taken to the LDN Home Page.

At this point I have about another 2 months then this prescription will be over. I am thinking to ask my doctor to up the dose to the regular MS dose with is somewhere around 4.5 mg and I take 3 mg. Please write me if you have any questions, I am not a doctor, but have had to deal with this disease for close to 20 years. I have learned a lot about a lot of things pertaining to MS. Anyway, I'd love to hear from you! Have a great painfree night!
Hope this makes you all smile!

great to see that you are on LDN. I am on the 4.5 and find that it eases my symptoms especially the vibrational feelings in the arms noticed when I use any electrical device.

I am also on the betaseron which helps for the myelin regeneration. In addition to these prescription drugs I am taking a tibetian medicine called PADMA 28 which is excellent for blood circulation especially for the legs.

Its good to know that you are taking control of your life and keep up the excellent work it will be very soon when the cure comes out.

2008 is my prediction when the entire MS community will benefit from wonderful news relating to MS,mark my word!

Try to get upto 4.5mg for your LDN my neuro had no issues prescribing this amount right from the initial start.

I want to look into a cayenne nasal spray as crazy as it might sound I believe there is some healing properties behind it. In Canada where i reside, a toronto hospital cured diabities in a mice model by injecting "Capsaicin". diabities and MS are very identical in their genetic make up (more info is available on the net) at anyrate, take care and remember to keep having fun:)

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my blog. I know it is mostly silly, but I wanted to let people know how I was going through Multiple Sclerosis while having a "normal" life. So a lot of my posts don't seem to have anything to do with anything, but blessing some dear friends of mine. I never know if anyone with MS or are considering LDN treatment would even want to read such nonsense, but I am glad you did. I am trying to live a honest life with a hard disease. I do plan on asking my doctor to up the dose to 4.5 and see how it goes. My spasticity is not as bad and I manage it with Celebrex or another thing called Curcumin Plus which is a natural anti-inflammatory. It all seems to be working for me. I hope you are right on you prediction! I have heard about the cayenne nasal spray as well, you will have to let me know how it goes! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Let me know if I can help in any way.
