Good bye!

My DL rose has been such a high point of my yard! Their cheery pink/peachy blooms were quite breath taking. But alas, it was time to dead head. There is a better written story here (click "here"), so I won't even try to top it.

But I will show this picture. I think it pretty much says it all! Until we meet again!

Last year, on our anniversary....

Gene and Kelly gave us a Disneyland rose! Just this week it bloomed! It is so beautiful! Apparently it missed the heat wave this past month and the blooms appeared unburned. I thought I might have seen a few aphids, but thought we fed it (and debugged) just a few weeks ago. We decided to try the lady bug fix....
We purchased these at our local nursery. Which by the way is amazing! I followed the instructions and let them go last night!

Be free!!!!

Do you see them? There are 2 just under that leaf!

And here is one on a bud!

And on a bloom....
And...

Doing what nature does best! Maybe one day soon we will have babies!
I'm so proud!

Ta-Da!

I know, I've been gone lately. With all the extra work at the office and general tiredness, I have not been very faithful with my blogging. We took a impromptu trip to Disneyland last week. But just before we left I received a box in the mail! It was the rose Gelly bought us for our anniversary (last July). It seems Jackson and Perkins wait to send the roses until planting season. Who knew?

We were so excited to receive it. However, I didn't know it was such an ordeal!

First,

Carefully follow instructions,

Soak for 12 to 24 hours,

Carefully dig, mix and measure hole,

Ta-Da!

I have no doubt, it will one day look like this!

I was so sure I bought 6 more! Can't wait!

A rose by any name....

I love roses! We have many roses at our church. They line the sidewalks. Here is one of the blooms. Truly beautiful. They are old bushes. They have been there for at least 60 years. I wonder who donated them? I wonder what their names are?

My friend, Marti, has just put a white picket fence around her yard. The roses are beautiful. See for yourself

As it turns out, the name of this rose is "Disneyland". I have decided I must have it. I will have to get my own!

I did find them at Disneyland. Aren't they wonderful?
