One is on time and one is late!

February has proven to be a wildly busy month! I try and keep up with the blogging...for you few who read, but I haven't been doing so good.

This past week my Granddaughter CJ had her 5th birthday! Wow! What happened? I went from being a teen to being a grandma! The last week was filled with lots of celebrations. My daughter and I made cake pops for CJ's pre-school class. Now before you get to wowed we chose the easiest one. I mean, dripping ice-cream cone is very forgiving. You can read more about these amazing treats at Bakerella's site. And you can get her book here! I love the fact that the book has step by step pictures!

As I said, CJ turned 5! What I love about this picture is that in the upper right hand corner (not panned) is a picture of her mom around this age with the exact same hair do!

She had so many little parties, but I personally liked this cake!

We gave her this one and she wanted the light up princess cake, but since I knew her mom was getting that one for her "big" party, I didn't want to ruin her surprise. So I opted for Buzz and Woody! The only candle I had was this Cinderella one, so I figured, it went perfect! Don't you think so? LOL All of that post was the part that was late.... I feel bad about that! But I was busy with parties and decorating and playing! And at least she doesn't read the web to know I'm late!

Now on to the on time one:

My baby is 28! *insert weepy sigh, as I'm listening to title song from UP*

Here he is at the ripe age of 5! Look at how sweet he is. I'm feeling like the years have floated away! What's wrong with me?

In my hall I have two of these frames I was given one year for Christmas. I faithfully filled them with the school pictures. Everyday I pass them, I'm reminded of how incredibly blessed I am. I have two wonderful children and 2 even more wonderful grand kids!

Right there is my son's early years in a glance. He has grown into a Godly, responsible, wonderful, handsome, punctual, rad, tall, sweet, amazing, kind, compassionate, giving and MINE young man!

We did a little make shift "happy birthday" for Gene because his little son, Geno, has RSV and not feeling very well. We picked up a few delicious cupcakes from a new store in Hanford called Butterkup's and boy were they good!

Thank you Geno for being the kind of son every mom dreams to have and wants her daughter to marry! You have blessed my life in ways I could never really express! I love you MORE! And HaPpY BiRthDaY!

Thanks for the great birthday week!

As promised here's a report on my fun birthday WEEK! Gene and Kelly decided I needed to have an entire week of gifts, so they gave me a little gift each day on my desk! It was a truly fun thing! On my actual birthday my daughter Mary made us all lunch and we all got to enjoy her lovely home. Gifts centered around my need for supplements to my new dishes.
Here are my stove top salt and pepper shakers. Those are from Mary and her family. Help me now with a dispute we all have.....does the salt, or the pepper go into the less hole container? I have always done the salt in the fewer hole container, so you are careful not to put too much salt. It seems our family is pretty split on it.

Here is the butter dish from Gene and Kelly. They also gave me a delicious ice cream cake! I just love these dishes they make me smile! My wonderful husband gave me a not-so-common "O" necklace. I really like it since it isn't like every other one-

There were lots of other surprises too. I received some beautiful note cards, a really cute bracelet that looks like hidden mickeys, a purse you see me with above, a really fun singing M.I.C.....K.E.Y....card, ornament (I am always ready for ornaments, see December 2006 posts) and really touching blog spotlight from my friend Marti (not to mention the great movie from Amy). Thanks all!

All in all, it was a great time! Until I met "mak'in bacon" (that's what I call it/him/her)

John and Mary's Christmas dinner......That kind of freaked me out!

52 years and still looking GREAT!

My husband's 52nd birthday was yesterday! And needless to say.....he had to use 3 attempts to blow out all the candles! We had a fun time, as all our little family was there. He requested macaroni and cheese....and not Kraft (Marti). It was good especially since I have not made it for ummmm.....years!

Marti put a really nice post about Gene, and his continual battle with the trains. I couldn't resist sharing them here:

Thanks Marti for the work! That is pretty much our life.....

Happy Birthday Gene!

Happy Birthday CJ!

My granddaughter CJ had her one year birthday this month! As I was looking at her picture I wanted to compare my daughter's and my picture with her's. I decided to make them all black and white. (as mine was in black and white)

I am such a blessed mom/grandma! Who would have guessed that 50 years would go by so fast?

I am so amazed at grand parenthood. I can't believe how different it is! I am not as worried about all the little things I use to as a mom. I guess it is because I understand how soon it will all be over, or is it because I know today will never come again? Maybe it is because I know I won't remember the messed up kitchen or dirty cloths. But I really think it is because we only see her a few moments a week and don't have to deal with the constant needs of a one year old. "-)

Whatever it is, I am enjoying being a Grandma! Nothing compares to hearing her laugh and seeing her smile. I can't wait to hear her "ummmmm's" when she gets her dinner! I feel as if I am a world famous chef! Happy Birthday CJ and I think your nose is like mine!
