Friday's pick of the week

Just before Christmas, while watching QVC, I saw this handy item! It is a USB turntable Vinyl Archiver. It turns your old vinyl (33-1/3, 45, and 78 ) to MP3's so you can play them on your computer or burn them on a CD. I know most people might think you can just buy the record converted by the "music community". Sadly lots of old music, especially from "the Jesus Movement" are not ever reproduced on CD. We are forced to fondly remember the great songs. Now this little device makes it possible to hear the songs again and even the hope you could hear them forever! (well...maybe not forever, but you know what I mean)

What I love about QVC is that you can try something and if it doesn't meet your standards, then just send it back! Well, this more than met my standards. I was able to record a beloved album called "The Misfit" by Eric Nelson and Michelle Pillar. There were a few skips, but all in all it turned out amazingly! In fact, there seemed to be lots of scratches and several skips, but they didn't come through on the recording. Only a couple major skips marred the songs. I am so encouraged by this little item! If you have any old albums that you miss, give it a try. But you don't have to take my word for it...read the reviews on QVC. Click on their name and put the item #E03699 into the search. I am so amazed by this and am looking forward to rediscovering my fond memories of the Jesus Movement.

I was cleaning some files....

I was cleaning out some files and came across this and remembered a funny story I just had to tell.

Several years ago I decided I'd like to earn some extra money by selling on eBay. I had a lot of fun going to garage sales and looking for that find that would make me rich! Around the same time my mom died and so I had a lot of her stuff I decided to sell. She had lots of jewelry and things she had bought from QVC and SHOP NBC. One of these things was a sterling silver replica of a ring owned by Marilyn Monroe. I decided this would be the perfect thing to sell on eBay. So I listed it and it sold.

The buyer promptly paid via money order (in those days...at the beginning of eBay, people didn't use paypal). In with the payment was this picture. I remember thinking..."that is weird....is the guy threatening me? Why is he smashing a watermelon...maybe he is trying to send me a sick message..."

I filed it away and sometime later I showed it to my son who said "Gallagher sent you a picture?" I said..."is he famous?" He proceeded to tell me about him and how he smashes watermelons in his comedy skit. All this time I thought he was trying to tell me something! And he was...it was Thank You!

It seems Disney/Pixar paid tribute to him near the end of the film Monsters Inc. Monster George Sanderson is seen walking to his door holding a hammer and a watermelon and humming to himself.

I wonder how many famous people we brush by going through our lives? Sorry for the bad thoughts, Ron.....I do appreciate the picture!

There's a knock on the door.....

As I'm getting ready for work a knock comes. I really didn't want to answer it because I was slightly behind and didn't really want to say "no" to someone selling something.

But I went and answered it and what a wonderful surprise I received. There was a lovely lady standing there with a vase full of flowers. I gladly signed and brought my prize inside. I opened the envelope and there was a lovely message from a dear family in our church. It said "have a blessed Easter". I was truly surprised. I decided to take a picture, then had the idea, put my new Lucifer in the picture.
I mentioned before I purchased a Jim Shore basket for my "Easter" display. Well, as I was searching QVC I came across the Lucifer statue. I couldn't resist. I don't even own cats nor have I ever. But something jumped out at me about this sculpture. Maybe because I just watched Cinderella with my granddaughter. Then I realized the cup and saucer poster my dear friend Marti gave me was currently on my table......It was just a love fest all around!
